Chapter 1

Part I: The First Universe

When the first mortal world came to be, it was very small. Though still a vast vacuum like outer space, it did not carry the kind of chaos one would expect from such a new world. Instead, all that could be found within the newly born cosmos was a single orb of Heavenly Light.

This light would become the font from which the stars would be born. And soon enough, the first stars would be born from this primordial light.

Many of these early celestial bodies would stand as the most prominent beings in the cosmos for quite a long time, some even being present when the first of the solid celestial bodies were formed and even less were around to witness the first mortal creatures.

Some were not quite as fortunate, however.

Within the first universe, the laws and forces which retain balance within the world were still new and had yet to harden into the concrete rules that guide each individual universe. Some of the first stars born from the font of Heavenly Light could not properly adhere to the recently created laws of physics, causing them to run out of energy and collapse in onto themselves far sooner than stars tend to.

This collapse could take place within tens of thousands if in hundreds of years. These less stable stars did not form into black holes, however, due to their lack of a proper physical state. Instead, these primitive stars burst into great waves of cosmic dust.

The remains would float out beyond into the great unknown, feeding other stars that crossed paths with them.

This cycle of life and death among the stars would continue for many millennia, guided by the font of Holy Light. It would maintain law within the universe as best it could as the proper laws of Creation were still setting in. It ensured that roving stars did not crash into one another as they roved about the blank void with no destination to travel to. It also worked to collect the solar dust produced by dying stars, providing sustenance for wandering stars.

A combined effort of the Heavenly Light, the Choir of the Almighty, and the formation of the universe's own natural laws, much of the cosmos would become less like great big marbles made of plasma rolling about in a seemingly endless field to a series of galaxies. Of course, there were far less within this new universe than there are in many new universes, but it made a perfect template.

With that, the cosmos were starting to take their proper shape and Creation would move on its its next big steps.

The first of these next big steps would take place as roving clouds of solar dust would coalesce into more solid forms, creating the first of the solid celestial bodies. These primitive cosmic beings were tiny, comparable to moons or even comets at this time.

And like the first stars, the first solid space objects did not wish to follow the rules set by the universe. Rogue planets and rambling asteroids were the most common form newborn space rocks would take as rebellious solid forms went on journeys across the oldest galaxies. The stars, having been roped in by the rules of the universe, would use their sheer size and gravitational pull to set most of the younger creations straight.

As more planets became entangled with the stars and joined the vast beautiful galaxies, the cosmos would finally take its most simple but most recognizable form.

Unfortunately by the time the cosmos had gotten organized so well, the orb of Heavenly Light had long since run out of energy. The divine provisions had run out, and now Creation would have to fend for itself.

This does not mean that the early galaxies were incapable of handling themselves. They had become organized, though the complex machine of the cosmos had its hiccups even during such a simple time. Any interruption of the ongoings of the universe were brief and Creation proved itself capable of taking even serious hits such as black holes or similar bends in the fabric of reality.

Great expanses of time would pass and thousands of years would turn to millions of years which would turn into hundreds of millions of years. As time passed, the lifeless cosmos would be studied by the Angels in Heaven for any sign of God's greatest desire coming to fruition. They would observe the emptiness of space and, though they would find great joy in the beauty of phenomenon such as the orbiting of planets or the formation of moons, they would not find what He had hoped for as He dreamed of His Creation long ago.

Regardless, many millennia of the same graceful cosmic ballet would pass by with none other than the metaphysical to observe it. The universe would grow to such great sizes and some planets would bring about the next grand step in the birth of Creation.

It would take a very delicate balance set by the cosmos, but a single solid planet within the first universe would meet such a need through the presence of key elements on its surface. With enough time and a bit of assistance from above, various chemicals would begin to mingle among the otherwise lifeless waters of a relatively small planet among a rather average star.

The planet on which this great miracle was formed would become among the Almighty's favorites, and He would aim for it to appear in as many mortal worlds as He could. Of course, this is a story for later.

Although very simple and largely incapable of experiencing the world they had been gifted, the first semblances of mortal life had been created. It had finally arrived; God's greatest desire.

Part II: As Heaven's Light Faded

As the Divine Font faded away, and the universe was left, the glow of the stars became far more brilliant among the vacuum of space. New stars would be born from wandering clusters of cosmic dust and the sparks left behind by what had once been the brightest object in Creation.

With such a dazzling display of cosmic wonder standing before the divine, the Almighty found Himself amazed by the beauty His own Creation could possess. The way the stars and the planets worked together in such a delicate balancing act made His infinite form swell with a deep seated pride. This was something He had created, and someday this creation could be able to look back at him with the same sense of wonder He feels towards it.

For now, however, the Almighty Lord will settle with observing the beauty and grandeur of the cosmos.

Eons would pass as planets and comets and asteroids would join the great cosmic dance, each one a new object of affection in the eyes of its God. With the Angels, He would watch wild roving planets and moons soar through the void in search of a place to settle down. Most would eventually find themselves in a galaxy where it would step into the orbit of a star and join the system.

Even just from watching the universe unfold into unique and interesting forms, God felt a profound ground-shaking ecstasy within the core of His form. As more galaxies were born and a sense of order filled Creation God's love for His Creation continued to grow.

The biggest development within the early universe, however, would be the aforementioned first forms of mortal life.

It would be many hundreds of millions of years in the making for an incredibly simple type of life in the form of archaic microscopic organisms. This did not change the reaction on the part of its Creator, however. Upon discovering the squirming forms within the primordial seas of a tiny moon, the Almighty felt an even greater swell of pride within His form.

The joy felt from this incredible advancement would sit right within the core of the Infinite, causing a major change in His form. In that moment, the once shifting form would become fully solidified to a being of pure joy.

He would become His joy, and would possess an endless capacity for it.

This profound joy would seep into the fabric of Heaven as well, inspiring the great Choir of Angels to sing the praises of both mortal life and its benevolent Creator. Singing could be heard across Heaven for eons following the creation of life, and the song designed during this time are often held to high regard by the Angels.

Although only in small ways, the effects of God's endless joy could be seen within Creation itself. In reaction to the swell of pride felt by the Creator, the stars glowed with greater intensity and the vacuum of space became filled with a peaceful air.

Though no mortal creature was present to witness such an event.

Ultimately, the universe was not only able to survive but thrive as Heaven's Light faded away.

Part III: Darkness Encroached

The Light of Heaven served as a wonderful caretaker during the infancy of the universe, and once it was no longer needed by the fully organized cosmos it faded away. It would leave behind a gift through the form of surplus cosmic dust and dying sparks which brought forth young stars into the void.

However, it would also leave behind a void in the universe.

Without a direct connection to the Divine, the chaotic and destructive tendencies of the universe's inhabitants would take the forefront of the laws of nature. Black holes swallow stars and planets whole, wandering celestial bodies crash into one another, asteroids rain down on larger objects like a hail of bullets.

As the universe became dominated by destruction, the power of entropy would begin to take form. This energy of destruction was once cleansed from the cosmos by the Font, with Divine Light acting as a filter for the universe's natural laws. With it out of the picture, however, entropy was able to form into a more physical form.

Or a metaphysical one, at least.

This manifestation of chaos would grow into thick coagulated blobs which began to weigh down the universe and tug at the fabric of reality. As further entropy joined the entropic mass the strain on reality continued to grow.

Eventually weak spots would open throughout and the putrid energy of destruction would seep through like water dripping through a wet paper towel. Once beyond the bounds of the universe, the energy of entropy would collect and solidify into a thick craggy surface. Small floating islands would take shape, though they never kept the same formation as entropy warped their appearances.

It would not take very long for something malicious to form from the rotting energy.

Bizarre non-Euclidian creatures somewhere between impossible shapes, warping crystals, and macroscopic viruses, these strange creatures would be the only ones who could feasibly survive within their entirely nonsensical world. Though none would discover these strange floating shapes, these would be the predecessors of one of the most dangerous factions across all of Creation.

Born from the mass of evil energies was the first demons.

Like every Creation, however, the first of the demon hordes weren't quite the barbaric colonizers they are known to be within the Current Age. These primitive demons possessed no understanding of their nature, the way in which they were created, or the universe which sat directly above their own home.

Akin to the mortal life within Creation, the first demons could only process the most basic information about the world around them. This caused them zero problems as the one source of food continued to seep through the healed space-time continuum. Any encounters they would have with the world above would be purely by coincidence as some slip through vulnerable points of connection.

The earliest of demons never interacted with life, and only three made contact with any physical objects.

This reality did not last, unfortunately, as more of the demon world formed from the raining entropy and more of these esoteric demons were formed. Alone, any of these creatures would prove entirely harmless due to a total lack of intellect or sentience in general. However, they would begin to form colonies of shifting creatures floating about their hellish home.

After tens of millions of year of this simple state of existence persisting, a large enough group would gather and a center of gravity would be formed. The rest of these simple mindless demons were sucked into the mass, the energy of which would send shockwaves across the demon world.

A great orb of deep black void, something akin to a massive black hole, formed at the center of the demon world as all of the oldest demons fused together into a single monstrosity.

Part IV: One Without A Name

The energy produced by the mass fusion of hundreds of the oldest demons would be enough to shake the entirety of the demon world. The rest of the entropic fuel came crashing down on the accursed swirling void and further fed its great rumbling. If it had not stopped when it did, the event may have even reached out to the mortal world above.

Once the process had been completed, something very different from the simple mindless beasts stood where the coalescing mass could be found mere minutes before. Though originally believed to be Adam Kadmon as it was first born from the fading of God's Divine Light, the being born of the fused demons proved to be something more malicious.

This event would be the birth of The Nameless One, the God of Demons.

Even in its infancy, The Nameless one was a being beyond description. It is commonly accepted that its form is so nebulous because it came from hundreds of seemingly shapeless demons being mushed together by strange supernatural forces. Regardless of the cause, this makes The Nameless One an enigmatic creature that none fully understand. The only trait that can find its way past its tireless shifting is that it is a truly obscene sight to see.

In a way, The Nameless One is the closest being to the Almighty Lord both in its power and the unidentifiable yet profane form it takes.

The Nameless One, unlike the brainless creatures which came together to form it, was always a hateful and wicked thing which hated the Divine and hated Creation even more. From the second it came into existence, the God of Demons looked up towards the heavens and cursed the name of the Infinite.

It would begin its war against all other things by reforming the demon world from a soulless domain of dry rock into a world overtaken by unstoppable flames, endless barrages of asteroids, thick pockets where reality constantly shifts, and environments where no other creature would be able to exist for more than a few spare moments.

The Nameless One would spend millions of years soaking in every last drop of entropy before releasing it all out towards its wicked domain. This process would be repeated several times across the span of hundreds of millions of years before it finally decided to move on to the next step of its assault.

With a fully altered realm of demons, The Nameless One would cross over to the mortal world in search of mortal life. It would be found on a tiny moon largely dominated by oceans of fresh water, and would take the form of microscopic creatures akin to viruses or archaic bacteria. This simplicity did not spare the first living things in Creation from the God of the Demons, however, as he caught sight of them within the expansive oceans of their home.

Thrilled by the prospect of wiping out mortal life and finally catching the attention of the Creator it loathed, The Nameless One made a swift decision and decided to devour the little moon, obliterating the moon along with any and all organic life that was on it.

Upon returning to the demon world, the powerful demon found that strange demented creatures akin to itself wandering the wastes either alone or in small groups. They all took one of three distinct but simple forms; a small stone orb producing a thick slime from a hole on its bottom, large chunks of an unknown granite-like stone, and three floating prisms.

When The Nameless One approached any of these strangers, they would enter a cacophony akin to the screech of rusty metal scraping together. Despite the deeply unpleasant sound, the demon knew exactly what they were trying to do.

These things were trying to worship it.

As The Nameless One considered its new worshippers, it found itself confused. Just what were these demons doing here, and what caused their creation? They certainly weren't caused by entropy, it had already stolen every last bit of energy produced by that, and they weren't simply born from the land. Something must have changed within the mortal world. Something like...

That was when everything connected.

They weren't created by entropy, these demons came from the planet it devoured. These demons came directly from the suffering of mortal life.

This revelation brought The Nameless One to the next step of its master plan. If it wasn't able to destroy its greatest enemies on its own, then perhaps it could build an army. They may seem pathetic now, but if the mortal world is bound to produce increasingly complex life forms, then those mortals will make even better sources of demons.

It will take a very long time, and it will take a great deal of patience, but The Nameless One may have just discovered the perfect strategy to striking down the Almighty God down to its level.

Part V: A Split in Worlds

While God was busy basking in His deepest pride, the Angels were fully engaged with the praise towards their Lord, and The Nameless One began its grand scheme to end all of Creation, the First World continued to develop and change. Most of these changes would go unnoticed including the sudden destruction of the first planet harboring life, but a very strange and unique event would change everything.

As the universe entered its one billionth year, the fabric of spacetime began to strain. At the very edges of the cosmos a single spot in space time stretched and extended the very shape of the world out beyond where it had been expanding to before.

Nobody knew exactly what was happening at this time. Even God was caught off guard by this sudden development. The Nameless One watched from the deepest depths of the demon world in glee as it awaited the end of all things. It didn't care that its scheme would go to waste, so long as the Almighty would crumble before His failed little project.

The Angels, though tempted to step in to assist what seemed like a dying universe, remained still as the Lord commanded them to simply observe before they make any rash decisions.

His certainty did not stop them from dreaming up the worst scenarios within their own minds. What if this stretch tears a hole in the bounds of the world, sucking everything out into the lifeless void? What if everything in existence is thrown out into the bleak and soulless unknown?

It is foolish to worry, however, if their Lord is so certain in what will happen.

The universe went on as usual, the cosmos themselves completely unaware of the breaks in the laws of physics occurring within the bounds of their own home. The galaxies and stars and planets were all unaffected by the sudden change, a far cry from the metaphysical entities watching the following series of events unfold.

As the stretch in reality reached what seemed to be its breaking point, sparks of strange light began to pour both into and out of the bounds of the universe. Though the demons were convinced the world had met its end after a mere billion years, God did not falter in His certainty.

Though something akin to doubt attempted to creep into His form, a sense of absolute certainty forced any sense of worry out and as far away from the core of His being as possible.

The Angels, despite their deep worry, listened to their Lord and trusted in His expansive and wonderous wisdom.

Just as soon as it had started, the event ended as the stretched popped back into place and a small orb akin to the Divine Font sprung forth into the void. The orbs grew in size and intensity before shrinking back into themselves and forming a single infinitesimally tiny points of existence.

Then they expanded, forming into brand new universes with their own collections of stars and planets and, once enough time has passed, forms of life.

God, once again ecstatic at the wonderous things His Creation has proven itself to be capable of, felt another great swell of pride within Himself which only further engrained His most joyous state of being. The Angels, in spite of all the terror that rose among them during the incident, were only further convinced of the endless wisdom of their Almighty Lord.

The Nameless One resumed to its plans. The universe, it seems, would being plenty of interesting challenges for the demon world...
