This chapter really shines in the contrast between Connor’s earnest, slightly overwhelmed optimism and Annie’s grounded, weary professionalism, which makes their partnership instantly compelling. The motel scene and Tulvir’s death were especially powerful; the Veil-thread details made the magic feel systemic and haunting rather than flashy. I also loved how Millpoint feels alive and fragile, like the town itself is holding its breath. I’m really curious, was Tulvir kneeling because he recognized and trusted his killer, or was that position part of something ritualistic?

Thank you for your feedback! I guess I'll need to keep an eye out for comments now that I've realized my writing is actually public. Tulvir's kneeling is a bit of both actually, and I plan to elaborate on that further as the story unfolds!
